Eight stories in eight days
Over eight days in March, the timber modules of the first LifeCycle Tower (LCT ONE) climbed skyward on the site in Dornbirn, Austria. During the construction of the LCT ONE, in which the timber module phase included the installation of the slabs, columns and facades, each story represented a piece of the future for ecological high-rise buildings. In no time at all, the prefabricated modules were quickly installed around the central core from their 13 x 24 m reinforced concrete podium.
Natural growth: LCT ONE under construction
LCT ONE, the world's first eight storey unenclosed wood-hybrid building, has been gaining in height since last September. The construction phase will become really exciting at the end of March when the construction of the LCT system starts, during which the slabs, the columns and the façade will be installed during the wood module phase. There is no substitute for seeing it for yourself, which is why we would like to give you a personal tour of our construction site: just mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call +43 5574 403-190.
New knowledge, new ways: The Tri/2012 symposium in Bregenz
Sustainable construction technologies are making their mark in architecture: At Tri/2012, the symposium for energy-efficient wood construction, the participants will find out about the latest sustainable construction technology concepts over three days in the Bregenz Festival Hall from 29th to 31st March. And even live and on site: "Tri on the road" presents a tour of three energy-efficient show properties, one of which is a close-up look at LCT ONE. If you register via Cree or Rhomberg Bau until February 17th 2012 you can take part at a special partner price. We look forward to seeing you.
A really great honour: our nomination for the national innovation award
A letter that we received at the beginning of the year was something extremely special: Cree has been nominated for the national innovation award of the Austrian Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft, Familie und Jugend (Economy and Family Ministry) with the LifeCycle Tower. Of the 627 entries that were submitted throughout Austria, we are among the 6 companies that have been chosen to receive Austria's most prestigious innovation award. The award will be presented on 22nd March in Vienna. This is a good reason for continuing to focus on major targets together in future, and implement them with commitment.
LCT test series of hybrid slabs
Premiere for everybody: In the meantime it is already about the structure of the LifeCycle Tower at the Rhomberg-Steinbruch site in Dornbirn. There, a test series of the LCT construction method was carried out which demonstrated the modular column and slab assembly. Two storeys of the LCT system were built up in order to test the hybrid slabs under real conditions.
Energy Globe Vorarlberg for Cree
A coveted trophy for sustainability: Again in October 2011 two Energy Globe Awards for Vorarlberg have been awarded. This prize is given as part of a worldwide initiative which awards projects in terms of efficient and intelligent energy use and production: One of the two Energy Globes went to Cree for its LifeCycle Tower and was handed over to CEO Hubert Rhomberg at the prize ceremony.
Cree: More nature in the city
Unconventional and memorable solutions are strenghs of Cree. Not only in development, but also when it comes to marketing the LifeCycle Tower we strike out on new paths. Just like in September when we hung up sixty bird houses with motion detectors and loud speakers from which bird noises sounded in Dornbirn's city centre. Have a look at the video of the campaign on youtube. All pictures can be found in our flickr photo album.
Kick-off for the LCT ONE
In September 2011, construction on LCT ONE, the first unencapsulated eight-storey timber hybrid building, will start in Dornbirn, Austria. What started in 2009 with a research project is now becoming reality: The LifeCycle Tower – the innovative concept for high-rise timber hybrid buildings – enters the construction phase. Today a prize for tomorrow
This might be a good year for us: Not only is Cree nominated for the Success For Future Award, but at the same time was awarded with the Future Prize of the city of Bregenz...
